The Congress of the International Ski Federation (FIS) took place in Antalya, Turkey, few weeks ago. It was a very special event, as one hundred years ago the International Ski Commission – the predecessor of the FIS up to 1924 - was founded in February 1910.

To do real justice to this historic date, the International Ski Federation presented its latest publication. The 256-page book by E. John B. Allen and Egon Theiner entitled “100 – 1910-2010” covers the development of international skiing; sheds light on personalities, such as Mathias Zdarsky and Marc Hodler; and invites the reader to browse through its informative texts and extraordinary pictures.

Vor wenigen Wochen fand im türkischen Antalya der Kongress des Internationalen Ski Verbandes (FIS) statt, und es war eine Veranstaltung der besonderen Art: Vor 100 Jahren, im Februar 1910, wurde nämlich die Internationale Ski-Kommission ins Leben gerufen, aus der 1924 die FIS hervorging.

Um dem historischen Datum gerecht zu werden, stellte der Internationale Ski Verband in der Türkei seine jüngste Publikation vor. Das 256 starke Werk von E. John B. Allen und Egon Theiner mit dem Titel „100 – 1910-2010“ beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung des internationalen Skilaufs, thematisiert Persönlichkeiten wie Mathias Zdarsky oder Marc Hodler und lädt aufgrund seiner außergewöhnlichen Texte und Bilder gleich doppelt zum schmökern ein.
